Goodbye from Anita

It is with great sadness (my God this sounds like a funeral eulogy – which it’s not!) that I have to inform UNISON Cumbria County Branch members that Anita Timperon is standing down as Joint Branch Secretary to take up a new job with Cumbria County Council.

Anita, along with Cliff Evans, jointly took over the Branch Secretary role in 2014.  The Branch were then facing difficult times (as it seems we usually are) with Cumbria County Council and most of the other employers within the Branch facing difficult funding problems caused by the Government’s austerity measures.

Anita, along with Cliff, approached those problems, as they continue to do, with steely resolution, pragmatism and firm leadership.

Anita is a combative advocate (& as I’ve found out myself, not just with employers), compassionate and has a sense of decency and fairness.  Many hundreds of members have benefited from her skill and dedication, and many more members have gained from her excellent behind the scenes work without realising.

So on behalf of all members, Cliff, Branch Officers, Stewards, Branch & Regional Staff I would like to sincerely thank Anita for all of her hard work on behalf of the Branch and the Union.

We all hope that Anita has an enjoyable time in her new job and enjoys every minute of it as much as we’ve enjoyed working with her in UNISON.

So for Anita and all the other fluent Latin readers, all that’s left to say is ‘ave atque vale’ (cue the frantic search on Google).
